If the Lord had not been my help,*
my soul would soon have lived in the land of silence.
When I thought, “My foot is slipping"*
Your steadfast love, O Lord, held me up.
When the cares of my heart are many, *
Your consolations cheer my soul. (Psalm 94:17-19)
Please join in as the Episcopal Church Office of Governmental Relations and Public Policy share new prayers each week for the vulnerable among us facing challenges, fears, and threats — naming the harms unfolding around us and acknowledging what is being erased, lost, and threatened.
Please share these prayers widely.
We are one church united in prayer, naming reality in the face of lies, creating space for grief in the face of denial, and freeing space in our souls for hope. We gather to be the body of Christ for one another—bearing one another’s burdens—and pointing the world to the cross and its redemptive power already at work through our witness (even when it may not feel like it).
These prayers are not a replacement for action; they offer grounding and space to discern what actions each of us feel compelled to take. We may feel called to meet with or contact our elected officials, participate in community organizing, provide services to those in our communities, or join in protests or acts of civil disobedience.
As a church, our advocacy continues, and we invite you to join in.
The Episcopal Public Policy Network has weekly action alerts, resources, webinars, and trainings.

Co-Leaders Rev. Emily Hillquist Davis and Lura Koch have led retreats together.
Lura describes Emily
Emily has been Lura's friend and  inadvertent spiritual director for years. An ordained Episcopal priest, she believes that regardless of our religious beliefs —or lack of— one of our life tasks is to become aware of our mystical relationship with the Life Force of the universe. She’s long served a Deaf church & loves the kinetic expressivity of Sign Language. She holds a Ph.D. in German and a Yoga Teaching Certificate. She is curious about how spiritual issues affect the body and seeks ways to promote healing. Emily's radical compassion and forgiveness make it easy to understand why she is asked to make many presentations on spiritual growth.
|
Emily describes Lura
Lura Koch —musician, plant nurturer, nature lover, fiber artist, retired psychotherapist and psych professor— delights in natural beauty and the curious predicaments of humans! Sensitive to visual and aural energetic vibrations, she plays many kinds of instruments and knows the voice, personality, and name of each one of her many Tibetan Prayer Bowls and Native American Flutes. I’ve also heard her play a Renaissance Harp, a Shruti Box, various recorders, and many others! Lura specializes in Early Music, enjoys sharing Meditation Music, and is an enthusiastic collaborator in spiritual projects.
